Modeling the magnetic processes involved at both the nanometer and atomic scale can provide valuable guidance towards the evaluation and optimization of new paradigms under consideration in the magnetic recording industry. A brief overview of recent progress and challenges in the simulation of thermally assisted magnetization reversal in recording media will be reviewed.
